Ever-rising fuel & transportation costs led us to require an economical option to traditional all-bark (from far-away paper mills) mulch. We have tried a variety of options in providing this and have settled on this procedure as the best balance between cost and quality. This page will give an idea of what we proudly call Bean’s Blend.
1) Raw Materials We use only clean logs and chips in our product. No scrap lumber, brush, stumps, or yard waste is ever used as a filler
	2) 1st pass We custom-hire a grinder to process our pile to our specifications. We have found that a two-pass system, with a month-long break in between, works well to provide uniform consistency, as well as good coloring. It costs more to have the grinder come back a second time, but we feel it results in a better product.
3) Re-Grinding After the pile sits a while, it begins to “cook”. This is how your mulch gets nice and dark.
	4) 2nd Grind Here is an overview of the 2nd pass. The pile they are grinding is roughly 3000 cubic yards
5) Beans Blend This is the finished product, fines give a nice color, while actual wood pieces physically last longer. This will get considerably darker as it sits in the newly formed pile. If you like this style mulch, and want it dark, the trick is to wait till the pile is almost gone soit has had the longest time to age. – but don’t wait too long - this pile will be gone before summer is in full swing!
